BIVOUACKING: BY RESERVATION AND NEAR THE REFUGE

For a single night or a multi-day adventure, the Vanoise National Park offers you the opportunity to experience bivouacking, provided you book your spot in advance.

In the heart of the Park, bivouacking is permitted during the summer season, but only in designated areas near the refuge during the guardian service period.

As you can imagine, setting up your tent anywhere is not an option. Protecting the natural environment, preserving the flora, and avoiding disturbance to the wildlife are top priorities.

We count on you to follow these guidelines because only by doing so can the spirit of bivouacking continue to thrive in our mountains!

WHY RESERVE AND PAY FOR YOUR SPOT?

In the spirit of fairness and respect for all:

  • You must reserve your spot with the refuge guardian before your stay. The number of spaces is limited and regulated!
  • To avoid overloading sanitary facilities.
  • To ensure everyone’s safety during adverse weather—refuge capacity is limited.
  • To enjoy the bivouacking experience peacefully, surrounded by an exceptional setting.
  • To guarantee there’s still space for your tent and those of your neighbors, who also booked their spot!

AMENITIES YOU CAN ENJOY:
  • Access to the picnic room and the refuge’s sanitary facilities (please note, access to the picnic room may be restricted during certain evening hours depending on refuge occupancy, so everyone has the chance to dine).
  • Optional reservation of half-board services, letting you hike light – both your pack and your mind!
  • The added bonus: the refuge guardian is happy to share their knowledge of the mountains, enhancing your experience with valuable insights. Need a weather update or hiking advice? They’ve got you covered!
